Aim: This study descriptive study was conducted in order to determine the healthy lifestyle behaviors of nurses working in surgical clinics. Method: The research population has been consisted of 318 nurses working in the surgery clinics of the Ministry of Health Public Hospitals Institution Training and Research Hospitals affiliated to the General Secretariat of Istanbul Fatih Public Hospitals Association. 293 surgical nurses who agreed to participate in the study without taking the sample selection were included in the study. Datas of the study were collected between March 2017 and May 2017 with “Personal Information Form” and “Healthy Life Style Behavior Scale-II”. Number percentage, mean, standard deviation have been used as descriptive statistical methods in the evaluation of the data. The Mann Whitney - U test has been used to compare quantitative continuous data between two independent groups, and the Kruskal Wallis test has been used to compare data between two independent groups. Results: The mean score of healthy lifestyle behaviors of the surgical nurses participating in the study has been found as 119.96 ± 17.21. The highest score average among the subgroups has been determined as spiritual development 24.29 ± 3.83 and the lowest score average physical activity was determined as 15.35 ± 4.90. Physical activity with variables such as age, marital status, education level, having children, years of work, BMI, smoking, weekly study period, presence of chronic disease, health check, health perception, physical activity, healthy nutrition; There was a significant difference between the variables such as BMI, number of patients given daily care, presence of chronic illness, health perception, physical activity, healthy nutrition, stress management, good communication skills and spiritual development. (p <0.05). Conclusion: The average score of the healthy lifestyle behaviors scale of surgical nurses have been found as medium level.
