Abstract

For the health and nutrition of the newborn, the best option, except her own mother’s milk, is the milk of the donor mother. Mother Milk Banks are the method commonly used in many countries for donors to provide breast milk. Mother milk Banking, unifying with the child health policy and regulaton in many countries. Despite growing evidence about the benefits of breast milk, In Turkey, implementation of milk banking is still under debate because of the ethical concerns, traditional beliefs and attitudes, parent’s concerns about the safety of donor milk, and the lack of information. This review covers donor milk-related cultural perspective, impacts on the newborn and ASB's aims and functioning in the world, different cultures approach to the breast milk banks .
