Current Situation of Midwifery Education in Turkey

This review was studied so as to put forward the current situation of midwifery education in Turkey. There are 36 midwifery divisions giving midwifery licence education in the universities in Turkey. Council of Higher Education has stated criterions to maintain the standardisation of theoretical and clinical educations of midwifery licence education in Turkey. However, every midwifery division is applying a different curriculum in the light of these criterions. There are fourteen midwifery masters degree and seven midwifery PhD degree programs in different universities in Turkey. The accomplishment of these postgraduate programs in midwifery profession will increase the number of academic staff in midwifery education.
