Abstract

There are multiple definitions of patient-centered care. Basically; patient-centered care is a partnership among patients, families and health care providers. Patient-centered care is grounded on a respect for patients neeeds and preferences. Collaboration, patients responsibilities and patients engagement in the care process are the common concepts in definitions of patient-centered care. Patients and families are the parts of the team. Patient is an individual and patients needs and expectations are the core of the patient-centered care. Efficient communication is the major component of the patient-centered care. Thus; communication is identified the core of the patient-centered care.
