Substance Abuse and Nursıng

Today use of drugs and drug addiction are one of the most important public health problems that all the societies face. The illness caused by drug addiction and drug use disorder, morbidity and mortality ratios, have started to occur more frequently than the other preventable health problems. Drug use disorder has significantly negative impact on the personal health, family life, public security and economy. As it is an extremely costly, destructive and frequently observed illness, in the recent years, there are more studies conducted on this subject. In this article, the psychosocial aspect of drug addiction and nursery treatments is elaborated. Related to use of drugs, it is required that the nurses plan and execute the necessary initiatives in the direction of protecting and developing the health. Obtaining more detailed information about drug use disorders and drug use penetration, making retrospective assessments, establishing the related public policies and conducting protective studies is very important.
