Nursing Department and Medical Faculty Students’ Attitudes towards Environmental Problems

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine nursing department and medical faculty students’ attitudes towards environmental problems and affecting factors. Material and Method: This crosssectional descriptive study was conducted with Nursing and Medical students’ (N= 735) Bulent Ecevit University. Data were collected by Personal Information Form and Environmental Attitudes Scale (EAS). Data were evaluated by using SPSS 16.0 Packet Program. Results: It was determined that students were had scored average of 82.25±1.02 form EAS. It was determined that medical students (p=0.000) was more sensitive towards environmental problems. It was found that being sensitive to the environment (p=0.000), thought to be sensitive to the environment of health workers (p=0.000), economic level (p=0.010) were affected the environmental sensitivity of students. Conclusion: It was determined that the students' environmental awareness was high and their environmental attitudes were affected by demographic factors.
