Evaluating Healthcare Quality Knowledge and Experience Level: a Comparison Between Turkey and Saudi Arabia Hospitals’ Quality Unit Professionals

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the degrees of quality improvement knowledge and experience among Turkey and Saudi Arabia hospital quality professionals. Material and Method: Initially comparison between hospital quality professionals of two countries in regards to the two factors were made analysing the survey conducted. Due to the statistically significant differences between means of two countries’ quality professionals’ six sigma knowledge and experience in ANOVA analysis conducted; relationship of ages and years of healthcare quality experience of both country professionals and their averages for six sigma training and experience factor was analyzed. Results: An increase of means of six sigma knowledge and experience by ages and years of work experience is found for Saudi Arabia professionals. For Turkey hospital quality professionals, a difference between age groups and work experience year groups could not be found. A superiority of Saudi Arabia quality professionals over Turkey quality professionals regarding all of quality improvement methods and also certificates and trainings (except total quality management certificate) was observed. As a conclusion of the study; beyond accreditation efforts, more emphasis on hospital and department level quality improvement for Turkey is suggested for higher level of health outcomes.
