Aim: Nursing students were watched a movie that was about “therapeutic milieu in a psychiatric ward”. The study conducted to determine the perceptions of the students about the therapeutic milieu, changes of awareness about therapeutic milieu and impact of knowledge level for students. Methods: The study of population comprise 109 students who enrolled in 2015-2016 education period of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Class in a University Faculty of Health Sciences. The mixed model that was qualitative and quantitative dimensions was used to collected data. The study’s quantitative dimension had socio-demographic form and student assessment form; the study’s qualitative dimension hadentry form that comprised written and verbal students’s feed back and interactively discussion after watching movie. “One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest” was chosen to watch for this study. Results: The study found that %81.1 of students’s view for “Assessment of therapeutic milieu’s suitability” progressed. The view of students in the discussion atmosphere that were about watched movie examined as qualitative data at the end of the movie. The written material were examined and they were collected under the main themes in the student evaluation form. Qualitative data were analyzed by using descriptive interpretive analysis within these main themes. Tables that had view of each students were composed for all item. In the other table, sample student views were given after descriptive interpretive analysis. Conclusion: As a result, the study found that psychiatric nursing students have found out easily for lessons, increased awareness and transfered in carea aplications. The study indicate that learn, provide increasing awareness of care applications, professional point of view and motivation for students. While students have a part in active during lesson, be motivated and also learn more, this application can be important for nursing education.
