Objective: The purpose of this research is to analyse the relation between marital adjustment and ways of coping; and locus of control and psychological state in a sample of couples of whom at least one with a psychiatric diagnosis. Materials and Method: Sample consists of 51 couples (at least partner with a psychiatric diagnosis). Brief Symptom Inventory, Marital Adjustment Scale, Locus of Control Scale and Ways of Coping Questionnaire are used as tools of data collection in the research. Results: Couples marital adjustment, spouses’ fatalistic coping style and marital adjustment, patients’ general symptom level and marital adjustment, and spouses problem focused coping and locus of control are found to be significantly correlated. Conclusion: It is seen psychological state and marital adjustment for individuals with psychiatric diagnosis, spouses' fatalistic coping and marital adjustment are related.
