This review will first try to explain the definition of mental disability in individuals, the concepts used in this definition, how these individuals are classified, the current situation in the world and in Turkey as well as the studies done in this area. Furthermore the difficulties they encounter in their sexual lives, the reasons for these difficulties and the duties of the health professionals will be reviewed in the light of the literature. This review also aims to contribute to the educational and interventional programs in terms of understanding the importance of this subject.
