The Effect of Number of Birth on Mother-Baby Attachment

Objective: This research was carried out to determine if there is an effect of birth number, on mother-baby attachment, as a comparative illustrator. Material and Methods: The Datas of research were got from 100 mothers who are registered to İstanbul, health group presidencies’ health clinic. 50 of mothers are primiparous and other 50 mothers are multiparous. Also all of these mothers have 4 months baby. Written permission from the health managment and verbal permission from mothers were taken. Datas were collected via Mother-baby introduction form and maternal attachment inventory that can determine mothers’ sosyodemographic and other features. Datas were evaluated with t testi, Mann Whitney U test and Ki-kare analysis. Results: According primiparous and multiparous mothers’ introduction form with Maternal attachment inventory were compared that it was similar with type of family, type of birth, sex of baby, the way of feeding her baby, the time of first meeting with her baby after birth, whether she was receiving support while giving care to her baby or not. Conclusions: When the groups were compared in terms of the mean scores of the maternal attachment scales, primiparous mothers (97,34±4,61), who have male baby,get pregnant willingly and are under 30 age, were higher than multiparous mothers’(95,22 ±5,63).
